The Mason in Spring 2025, prior to it’s exterior facelift
As the crisp air of September sets in, it’s the perfect time for homeowners to prepare their properties for the upcoming winter season. Proactive maintenance now can help prevent costly issues later, while also ensuring your home is safe, efficient, and guest-ready for the busy months ahead.
Luxe Haus recommends addressing the following priorities this fall:
1. Pest Control – Secure Your Home Before Winter
As temperatures drop, pests begin looking for a way inside. Now is the time to lock in your pest control contract and address any entry points to keep rodents and insects from settling in for the season.
2. Fire Suppression System – Annual Inspection
Before fireplaces are lit and heating systems run full-time, schedule your annual fire suppression system inspection. Luxe Haus recommends tackling this in early fall to ensure everything is in working order before peak ski season.
3. Window Cleaning – Refresh Before Winter
Window cleaning is recommended at least twice a year. Early fall is an ideal time, allowing you to clear away summer dust and ensure your windows sparkle before snow arrives.
4. Exterior Concrete – Clean and Seal
Snow, ice, and road salts can be harsh on driveways and walkways. Sealing your exterior concrete each fall helps prevent cracking and spalling, saving you from costly repairs in the spring.
5. Deep Cleaning – Guest or Holiday Ready
Whether preparing for visiting family, hosting holiday gatherings, or getting ready for the rental season, schedule a professional deep clean now. A fresh reset ensures your home shines for every occasion.
6. Boiler and Snowmelt System Service – Winter Prep
Your boiler and snowmelt systems work hard during Park City’s long winters. Servicing them before the first snowfall ensures efficiency, prevents breakdowns, and keeps walkways and driveways clear.
7. Vehicle Detailing and Winter Prep – Ready for the Roads
Mountain winters are tough on vehicles. Schedule a professional interior and exterior detail to protect paint and finishes from road salt and grime. At the same time, prepare for winter driving by checking tread, topping off fluids with winter-safe blends, testing your battery, and replacing wiper blades. An emergency kit in the car is also a wise precaution.
8. Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors – Biannual Testing
For safety, test all detectors twice a year and replace batteries as needed. As fireplaces, furnaces, and boilers come back into heavy use, fall is a critical time to confirm all alarms are working properly.
9. Gutters and Heat Tape – Prevent Ice Dams
Inspect and clear gutters and downspouts before the snow flies. Proper drainage reduces the risk of ice dams, which can cause leaks and interior water damage. Consider installing or checking heat tape along rooflines and gutters to ensure meltwater flows properly during freeze-thaw cycles.
10. Chimney Sweep and Cleaning – Fire Safety First
Before using your fireplace this season, schedule a professional chimney sweep and inspection. Whether wood-burning or gas, this helps reduce fire hazards, improves efficiency, and ensures safe operation throughout the winter.
Bonus Tips Homeowners Often Forget
- Weather Stripping & Seals: Inspect door jambs, garage doors, and window seals. Replacing worn weather stripping reduces drafts, lowers heating costs, and keeps snow and ice from seeping inside.
- Weep Holes in Windows: Clear out dirt and debris so water drains properly. Blocked weep holes can lead to water pooling and freezing in frames.
- Outdoor Faucets & Irrigation Systems: Blow out sprinkler systems and disconnect hoses from outdoor spigots to prevent freezing and burst pipes.
- Attic & Crawlspace Check: Look for signs of rodent activity, moisture, or insulation gaps. Early fixes prevent mid-winter damage.
- Backup Power: Test generators and ensure fuel is on hand. Storm-related outages are not uncommon in the mountains, and preparation offers peace of mind.
- Whole-Home Humidifier Service: If your home has a built-in humidifier, schedule a cleaning and service. This protects wood floors, furnishings, and overall comfort in Park City’s dry climate.
Taking care of these maintenance items now will give you peace of mind and ensure your Park City home is ready for a seamless, worry-free winter season. For homeowners who prefer a proactive, hands-off approach, Luxe Haus offers comprehensive management services to handle seasonal maintenance and property care on your behalf.

If HBO’s Mountainhead left you mesmerized by its jaw-dropping backdrop — a towering ski estate nestled in the Utah mountains — you’re not alone. One of the most common viewer questions is: Where was the Mountainhead house filmed? The answer is as exciting as the film itself — and yes, it’s a real home, not a Hollywood set.
From Script to Slope: The Real Location Behind HBO’s Mountainhead
Most of the movie was filmed on location in Park City, Utah, specifically in the exclusive Deer Crest community of Deer Valley. The home, also called Mountainhead, is an extraordinary alpine estate perched on a ridge with commanding views of Jordanelle Reservoir and the surrounding Wasatch Mountains. And unlike many film locations, you can actually stay here.
The home was chosen for its cinematic presence — expansive glass walls, bold architecture, and resort-level amenities. Managed exclusively by Luxe Haus, a premier provider of luxury vacation rentals in Park City, Mountainhead is now available to rent for those seeking the ultimate cinematic escape.

A Luxury Vacation Rental Built for the Screen
At more than 21,000 square feet, Mountainhead is a private estate designed to impress on and off camera. Featuring seven bedrooms, 16 bathrooms, and room for up to 34 guests, the home redefines the concept of a luxury vacation rental. But beyond its size, it’s the unique features that caught the eye of HBO’s creative team:
- A glass-walled funicular that provides private ski access to Deer Valley Resort
- Infinity-edge pool with panoramic views
- Full-size indoor basketball court
- Private two-lane bowling alley
- Home theater, climbing wall, and a sprawling game room
These aren’t Hollywood fabrications — they’re real, available, and yours to experience through Luxe Haus.

A Filming Location Like No Other
Director Jesse Armstrong, best known for Succession, wanted the home to feel like a character of its own — opulent, remote, and slightly surreal. Mountainhead delivered. Every frame of the film was enhanced by the home’s modern mountain design, blending sleek lines, warm woods, and soaring ceilings.
The cast spent several weeks filming on-site, and according to Jason Schwartzman, the transformation from awe to comfort was quick. “It felt overwhelming at first,” he shared in an interview. “But by the end, it genuinely felt like home.”
While most of the film took place inside the house, a few exterior scenes were shot on Snowbird Mountain, another Utah location near Salt Lake City, at elevations over 12,000 feet. Still, the soul of the film resides in this one-of-a-kind estate.

Can You Actually Stay at the Mountainhead House?
Yes — and only through Luxe Haus. This cinematic estate has transitioned into one of the most sought-after luxury vacation rentals in Park City. Whether you’re planning a multi-generational ski retreat, a private celebration, or a creative residency, Mountainhead offers a backdrop like no other.
As part of the Luxe Haus collection, every stay includes personalized concierge services, such as:
- In-home private chefs and curated meals
- Pre-arrival grocery stocking and wine selection
- Guided ski, hike, or adventure excursions
- Spa treatments, yoga instructors, or personal trainers
It’s more than just a home — it’s a full-service, resort-style experience curated by Luxe Haus.

What Sets Mountainhead Apart?
This luxury rental home stands out not only because it starred in a major HBO film, but because of the unmatched amenities and design that made it camera-ready:
- Ski-in/ski-out convenience via a private glass funicular
- Floor-to-ceiling windows framing snow-capped peaks
- Architectural harmony between modern luxury and alpine warmth
- Recreational features like a basketball court, theater, and bowling alley
Many of these elements were highlighted in Mountainhead, but guests who stay here experience them firsthand — with no camera crew necessary.

Not all houses are created equal — and very few are screen-ready. Mountainhead, the now-famous luxury rental featured in HBO’s Mountainhead, earned its role because it brings something extraordinary to the screen. Here are five stand-out luxuries that made it an obvious choice for a filming location — and why guests fall in love with it, too.
-
Private Ski Funicular
Yes, this home has its own private tram — a sleek, glass-enclosed funicular that whisks guests directly to the ski runs of Deer Valley. It’s one of the only private systems like it in the U.S., and it’s an architectural and experiential marvel.

When winter storms trap you indoors, there’s nowhere on Earth you’d rather be than Mountainhead — the iconic Deer Valley estate featured in HBO’s Mountainhead. From its 21,000-square-foot layout to its private ski funicular, this isn’t just a luxury home rental — it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience available exclusively through Luxe Haus.
Designed for grandeur, built for the elements, and now one of the most searched-for filming locations in Utah, Mountainhead is redefining the idea of being “snowed in.”
A Luxury Vacation Rental Designed for Titans
Perched at the highest point in Deer Valley, Mountainhead is more than just a home — it’s a mountain-top sanctuary carved into the landscape. Built over seven years with hand-selected local materials and bespoke finishes, the estate was conceived as a private resort for someone at the top of their game.
The home’s spiral steel staircase, which spans all seven levels, anchors the design like a sculpture. In fact, it took a team of two dozen craftsmen years to construct. That craftsmanship continues in every space: expansive glass curtain walls, reclaimed hardwoods that age naturally, and stone chosen for its chameleon-like hues of blue, rust, and green.
From the moment you enter, you know this is not an ordinary luxury rental. It’s a property that’s been a feature in People, Town & Country, Robb Report, and now stars in a major HBO film. And yet, through Luxe Haus, it’s available for private bookings year-round.

Built to Be Legendary — Even in a Blizzard
Architect Michael Upwall designed Mountainhead to be in harmony with the surrounding Wasatch Mountains. The terraced lot mirrors the natural rise of the mountain. Every window is perfect for sightlines to Bald Eagle Mountain and Jordanelle Reservoir. The exterior blends stone, wood, and steel with a philosophy that natural aging is part of the home’s beauty.
